Demonology Details

Stats:

- You need 32.79 haste rating to gain 1% spell haste.
- You need 45.906 critical strike rating to gain 1% critical strike chance.
- You need 166.667 intellect to gain 1% critical strike chance.
- Demonology Warlocks get 39% of their spirit in spell power from Fel Armor with Demonic Aegis talent, and 20% of spirit as spell power through Glyph of Life Tap. Spirit is increased by Blessing of Kings which means that from 100 spirit you gain 100*1.1*(0.39+0.2)=64.9 spell power. Humans also gain 3% extra spirit from racial.

Pet Gains:

Stamina: pet gains 75% of master's Stamina
Intellect: pet gains 30% of master's Intellect
Armor: pet gains 35% of master's Armor
Resistances: pet gains 40% of master's Resistances
Spell power: pet gains 15% (as spell power) AND 57% (as attack power)
Spell penetration: pet gains 100%
Resilience: pet gains 40%
Pet also gains 1 attack power for 1 strength and gains crit from agility.
Calculation of Pet's chance to miss a melee attack, miss with spell and to get dodged: Bottom of the page.

Calculation of pet attack power:

-Felguard Base AP: 608 ( at lvl 80)
- Glyph: +20%
Calculation: (base AP+(current spellpower)*0.57))*1.2

Example: warlock with 2500 spell power: (608+(2500)*0.57))*1.2=2439.6 attack power

Haste and Global Cooldown:

To reduce your global cooldown you would want to have 50% haste which is 1639.5 haste rating unbuffed. In raid with extra 5% + 3% haste buffs you need 42% that is 1377.18 haste rating. This means you would want to have 1137.18 haste rating without spellstone which is easy to reach but only in ICC/RS content. Over that you can still stack some more haste, it's just the value of haste is getting worse by each point.

Crit Bonus:

Spell Critical Bonus normally is 150% of damage. Demonology warlocks however have a talent called Ruin that increases the critical damage bonus by 100%. Also the meta-gem you want to use (Chaotic Skyflare Diamond) increases your critical damage bonus by 3% which takes effect before Ruin.

Meta-gem: 150%*1.03=154.5%
Ruin: ((154.5%-100%)*2)+100%=209%

Base Stats of Warlock and Felguard:

Warlock base stamina: 88
Warlock base intellect: 159
Felguard base stamina: 328
Felguard base intellect: 150
Demonic Knowledge [warlock gains 12% of pet's stamina+intellect as spellpower] calculation includes the base stats of your pet, too.

Controlled Demonic Pact

This is now less important with the changes from Blizzard in WotLK Classic! (Still relevant esp. in openers!)

Controlled Demonic Pact is a "trick" used to get the highest possible Demonic Pact for the start of a fight increasing the DPS by a great amount.

To be able to do this "trick" you will have to track your procs, use the Intercept macro (see in the Macros menu), use Wild Magic Potion for highest chances and maximum possible spell power, and use one or two trinket that procs a high amount of spell power at once (Like Phylactery or Dying Curse etc...)

Controlled Demonic Pact is about trying to get the highest possible spell power before sending your pet to attack the enemy using the Intercept macro you can find in the macros menu. Basically all you have to do is start DPSing as normal but leave your pet behind with a /petstay in range to be able to use Intercept in the right time. When you can see your trinket procs (on WA or TMW etc...) send in your pet. Simple as it is but it's not very easy, this also requires some practice and also you need to decide when to send in your pet to attack (as you might get non-synchronized procs etc etc...) So, even if it sounds a bit absurd, just go to your old friend (the target dummy) and practice! (Better to practice with some buffs so you can actually go with the same crit rating.)

This "trick" is very advised for hard progressing, when the raid needs some DPS boost. Combined with a Heroism/Bloodlust on start will give the raid an insane burst phase for the first 20+ seconds of the fight. (Demonic Pact has a 20 seconds internal cooldown.)

I advise using the addon called DemoPact v2.3a (combined with Fortress addon it's even better!) so you can track your DP's, the internal CD of it, you can check your average DP's so you can see improvement from raid to raid (not only by getting more gear but also getting better at Controlled Demonic Pact!)
